Academic Technology

The Academic Technology Department provides a wide range of applications and services to support the teaching and learning mission in the classroom and online. The Faculty Technology Center is where you will find this support.  Some of the services include assisting faculty in redesigning courses for online and hybrid learning, working with faculty and staff to create accessible websites and learning materials, and designing and developing engaging physical and virtual learning environments, using the learning management system (Moodle), web conferencing (Elluminate), video production, video streaming, and smart classrooms.

Our Faculty Technology Center section highlights our many services and support options including our video production studio in Oviatt 37 (x3592) and our multimedia lab in Oviatt 30. Our staff and faculty associates are here to assist you in the use of technology in your teaching.


Teaching with Technology

The Teaching with Technology section contains a number of resources to assist faculty in creating technology enhanced instructional materials that use the principles of instructional and universal design to create focused, efficient and engaging learning-centered experiences for the students of California State University, Northridge including our Tools/Techniques Guide, information about our Teaching and Learning Bytes series and Teaching with Technology Video Essays, a collection of short video essays highlighting a number of interesting projects on campus.

Capture Your Lectures So That Students Can Review Them

Lecture capture is now available in select lecture halls (Noski Auditorium, Chaparral 5122, 5125, Johnson) so faculty can enable students to rewind your lectures. Faculty can also download software called Echo Personal Capture from the CSUN Software Downloads Page  that will enable you to create lectures from your own computer.
